SPORT// CRICKET & ROUNDERS U12 XI A mixed season for the under 12s. Started with a good win Vs a strong Bradford Grammar outfit. A break for the weather then followed with the boys missing two fixtures due to rain. Then the Game of the season Vs Hymers Batting first Pock made 95 (Ollie Rook 30). Hymers got off to a lightning start 40-0 after 4. Good bowling from Stone, Councell and Burton left Hymers needing 4 off the last over with 1 wicket in hand. They could only score 3 before a run out saw Pock win by 1 run. The Boys and Girls competed admirably for the whole season and have shown real progression as a team. Player of the Year: Ollie Rook Most Improved Player: Stan Stone Trophy Success! Congratulations to the Pocklington team who won the David Gray Cricket Festival Trophy which was hosted by Hymers School. Individual success was also achieved by Tom Kirby won bowler of the tournament. ROUNDERS Seniors The senior rounders team have been an excellent set of girls to coach this season. They have made every games and training session fun and entertaining. Each girl has a wonderfully charismatic personality which adds so much to the U15B The U15A Team had a very successful season with winning most of their matches. All the girls have played so outstanding fielding and batting to beat off their rivals Ampleforth, Read, Giggleswick, Silcoates, Queen Mary’s, Queen Margaret’s, Mount, Mount St Mary’s and St Peters. Congratulations to all the team players on their excellent play throughout the season: Hannah Robinson, Poppy senior squad. We may only have had 6 games this term but the girls have all taken part and given their all. Put them into a match situation and you see the extreme determination and a desire to win for each other on the team. Players of the Season: Verity Sowersby and Emma Hanley FM It has been a pleasure to work with these girls this season. Well done. Rogers, Trinity Wright, Tia Wright, Zaira Gurung, Mia Annetts-Smith, Millie Addinal, Eunae Charlton- Harrison, Grace Gledden, Katie Phelps, Hannah Stevenson,Gabbie Innes, Annabel Atkinson and Ella Donohue-Day. Pocklington V Queen Margaret’s was the match that stood out. Both teams were evenly matched and the result of 19-17 was extremely close. The team were totally committed to the game throughout the season and all players were a joy to coach. Girl of the Season: Grace Gladden and Eunae Charlton-Harrison Most Improved Player: Trinity Wright and Tia Wright Well done. Thank you for a fantastic rounders season.
