BOARDING//
girls: “Boarding has prepared me in
many ways – from interacting with
new people, to learning to manage my
time effectively – clearly useful skills for
university and everyday life. Take the
opportunity and get stuck in! It’s been
amazing and well worth it! The bonds
you build here will change your life
forever…” Well, we couldn’t have said
it better ourselves! Having said that,
we’d like to leave you with a message
from our ever-insightful, Ms Burg:
“I’ve always thought a good guide for
Faircote would be: ‘Never do anything
that wouldn’t make your Housemistress
proud’. Please know that the privilege
and pleasure to be a part of your lives,
even if it’s just for a short while, is all
ours as staff. We are the lucky ones
watching you stretch out into the big
world where you will make it a brighter
and better place. So don’t worry about
us, just keep kicking your own goals!
Whether that’s as a leader of the pack or
quietly behind the scenes, it’s you in your
own race - don’t worry, you’ve got this!”
Faircote Anniversary
Sundial
The event is the 30 years of girls
boarding and it has been marked by a
commemorative ‘William Watson’ sun
dial.
Watson was a self taught astronomer
who used to house his workshop in the
Faircote car park in the first half of the
19th century.
The sundial was made locally for the
occasion by Dean Speight, Jill Dowson’s
partner.
