NEW CAREERS AND BUSINESS NETWORK
LAUNCHED
2017 saw the launch of our new Careers and Business Network,
designed to support current and former students as well the
wider school community.
The Network, which has been developed in conjunction
with the Old Pocklingtonian Association, is open to parents
past and present, staff, supporters and Old Pocklingtonians
(OPs), with the aim of sharing advice and expertise to help
each other thrive in a highly competitive world.
OP Martin St Quinton, renowned businessman and Owner
and Chairman of Gloucester Rugby Club, returned to the
school for the launch and shared his thoughts on what has
inspired him throughout his career.
Following the launch we held two further events in Leeds and
London. The Leeds event focused on family businesses and
we were delighted to have as our guest speaker Christopher
Oughtred, former Chairman of the sixth generation family
business, William Jackson Food Group.
CITY OF SHEFFIELD YOUTH ORCHESTRA -
MAKING MUSIC AT POCKLINGTON SCHOOL
Pocklington School welcomed the City of Sheffield Youth
Orchestra (CSYO) over the Easter holidays for its annual
spring residential course. The Orchestra has been holding the
popular course at the School since 2006 and makes full use of
the facilities around the 65 acre campus.
The Orchestra is Sheffield’s oldest and only completely
independent youth orchestra, and offers membership to
students up to the age of 21.
Gemma Wareham, CSYO Director and organiser of the
course said: “We return to Pocklington School year after year
because it provides the perfect environment for the orchestra
to focus, to create and to be inspired. With such great facilities
and a warm welcome the orchestra members come away
feeling revitalised having had fun and having achieved a great
deal in a short space of time.”
The wide range of facilities we have onsite at Pocklington School
have been hired out to many different organisations over the
years, predominantly during the school holidays. For enquiries
about hiring our facilities visit www.pocklingtonschool.
