GASTRONOMIC USE
The leaves can be eaten fresh
cooked, however they can be
bitter if they are no longer
young, or used for tea. The
fruits, of a pleasant and fresh
taste can be consumed soon
after they are formed.
CURIOSITY
It was much used by the Romans as
ornamental and shade tree.
In the past their leaves were served
to pigs and cattle in the summer when
pasture and other animal foods were
scarce.
