Track one, entitled “Sheep” starts with an ear catching guitar rhythm and then explodes into the rest of the introduction like a freight train slamming into a 4 door sedan trapped on a railroad crossing at full speed. You immediately recognize that this is going to be the perfect send off to what you have spent your hard earned money for. The band kept the lyrics simple which makes it easy to imagine what he is thinking about as they were penned to match the stellar twin guitar work that was perfectly blended in the studio by mastering engineer Jason Elgin of Synchromesh Studio. This song is what starts the heart pounding and leads your emotions into what you are about to hear for the next 9 tracks.
Track two imaginatively penned “Birth To Earth” continues this rollercoaster ride with another blistering and energizing effort that will instantly peek your senses and give your ears exactly what you expected to hear. The fuse that sparks the opening guitar line burns fast and trips the switch with amazing power each bar triggers the introduction. My personal favorite on this magic carpet ride, it is my favorite type of song. In your face, blistering leads layered under a rhythm that is as in your face as it gets. It’s groovy, hooky, and explosive with an unwavering relentless tempo that refuses to give up the ghost as it continues throughout the song. Perfectly blended backing vocals in all the right places in the chorus bring this song to life in the middle and fills in all the gaps effortlessly. No stone was left unturned in the studio on this one. The edge of the blade to this song stays sharp and just keeps on cutting through all the way to its conclusion.
Track three titled “It’s Not Your Fault” begins with a haunting guitar lead and introduces the first verse in the exact same fashion. And just when you think this song is going to continue down a dark path of echoes and subdued vocals, it blasts out the gate and throws your mind into a trip that is like jumping out of a supersonic jet at Mach 3. It is a mind jack that is as unexpected as when you found out how a jack-in-the-box works at age 3. It is a total surprise move that spells exactly what this band is all about. Expect the unexpected and take in every breath of fresh air that gets thrown your way.
