How long has Dead Earth Politics been together and who are the

members in the band?

Dead Earth Politics has been a blight on the face of the Austin metal

scene, and subsequently the world, since 2005. Officially, that is.

Mason, Will and our original guitarist Ernie had played in various

projects together some years before. Currently, Will (bass), Mason

(drums) and I (vocals) remain as the founding members of this

catastrophe. Tim Driscoll and Aaron Canady are the current core

members of the electric dynamite flying guitar ground-to-air-assault

team; Tim Having Joined up about two years ago against his better

judgment and Aaron Earlier this year (we think he lost a bet).

How would you describe your sound?

Heavy and Metal. We try not to adhere to the idea that our tune must

sound a certain way. As of late, we have applied a lot of melody –

something that has been lacking in metal for some time in general. Not

that it did not exist previously or that we are breaking new ground.

Melodic instrumentation, unlike the heavy-clean-heavy vocals of

metalcore, was just a rarity. I am jazzed to see that changing with a

lot of new bands, though. I guess our “sound” can be likened to a

tasty mix of Lamb of God, Iron Maiden, Pantera and Judas Priest.

At least that’s what people say who have been forced to listen to us. J
