Black Hand Throne just released their new album IV and I must admit I knew absolutely nothing about this band going into the review, but as soon as the album started with the song "APOCALYPSE" ,I was glad to be a part of it.To explain my first impression of the song,I would just say, Imagine if Black Sabbath had infused their sound with a portion of that NOLA sound.........from the late 90's early 2000's.This album is DOOMY,SLUDGY, and just bad@ss to be honest. The opening track is pushing 10 minutes, but you will never know it.Good songs don't have a time limit, you just wish they were longer. As soon as the Apocalypse is over "THE HARVEST" begins. It is the perfect name for the second track, because I know this band is starting to collect new fans with every note..You will hear more power with the vocals ,with long drawn out screams and low growls.
"GODS REJECTS" is about as smooth of a metal song you will ever hear. With crashing symbols and riffs that are embedded in your soul, this sounds like a battle anthem and I am ready to go to war."War Of The Ancients" comes marching in with a slow buildup that has you ready to explode for the full band to make their entrance.Sludgy Screams dominate the vocals on this track and the band sounds out of their mind..It is definitely one of my favorite tracks."RED RIVER" comes flowing in and covers everything in your thoughts with an appreciation for the metal Black Hand Throne is slaying your minds with.If you like the first DOWN album this is your song..After the slaying of guitars and everything in its wake, the "WOLVES NOW DINE".Cleaning up everyone that is not still feeling this incredible album, they begin a DOOMY METAL BARRAGE of guitar and drums, playing in a sound of harmony.
