Events & Workshops Sunday, April 6: Beyond the Five Stages: New Understandings of Grief Rob Zucker "What if I don't want to get over it?" "I just can't seem to get angry, but isn't that supposed to be the second stage? "Why do men and women seem to grieve so differently?" "It’s been three years since he died, will I ever get over this grief?" With so many, many ways to grieve well, we'll take a look at new research that debunks common misconceptions about grief and invites those who grieve to find their own way. Sunday, April 13: Children Grieve Too Rob Zucker For all sorts of reasons, kids tend to grieve differently than adults. This will be a practical, hands-on workshop examining essential information for grown-ups helping young people to understand death and manage their grief. Rob Zucker has been a grief counselor for more than 25 years and has led hundreds of workshops and given keynote presentations throughout the US and Canada. Currently, he is coordinator of bereavement at Mercy Hospice. He is the author of The Journey Through Grief and Loss: Helping Yourself and Your Child When Grief Is Shared (St. Martin's Press) Sunday, May 4: What Happens When We Die? Andrea Zucker This gathering will be a conversation focusing on the spiritual side of death. In true UU fashion, we’ll attempt to explore our beliefs about death: no dogma, just exploration and sharing. What do we believe, wish, fear and wonder about what becomes of us after we’ve shuffled off our mortal coil? Andrea Zucker has been an educator for more than thirty years (teaching theatre, English, and creative writing in several different settings around the Valley) and is now an ordained Interfaith minister, working as a chaplain with Baystate Hospice.
