She’s the author of A Diary of Healing: My Intense and Meaningful Life with Cancer. Mary Ann says,“When people tell me there is ‘life after cancer,’ I tell them there is life right in the middle of cancer! I have never been more alive. I ‘choose joy’ every day. It doesn’t mean I don’t experience moments of sadness or even despair, it means that I don’t pack my bags and move into those moments– I feel it and move on, always toward joy.” She started The Get In Touch Foundation because she knows it’s important for girls to grow up to become women who are comfortable and familiar with their bodies, who know what their normal, healthy breast tissue feels like. “We want girls to know their bodies better than their mothers ever did and more than their grandmothers would ever approve of!” — Mary Ann Wasil Fall 2013 THE PINK PAPER 9
