And now we publish, just after the twin goodness of Hari Raya and National Day! In keeping with our spanking new steel-and-glass image, we’ve bid our Adelphi-esque old school layout goodbye and updated the face of the Pickering Papers. Our endless gratitude to Qiu Huixiang and Allison Phua, respectively, for the former and current designs.
Now that the fuss and hubbub over the move has largely died down, and most teething issues resolved (save a few grumbles over the somewhat leisurely-paced elevators – why do they never seem to sense the hungry urgency of the lunchtime crowd?), we turn our attention to other questions, like – what does PC (Special Projects) Charles Lim do now that he’s no longer chief of LLRD? Who was Hong Lim? How could we have celebrated National Day? When was IAD incepted? And where should we go to do a spot of man-watching, should we be so inclined? All these, and more, are addressed within this issue.
We hope this issue provides some slight relief from the daily grind, even harder to bear after a long weekend. A belated Selamat Hari Raya and a happy National Day to all!
