This is but a brief discourse regarding the Peruvian Paso. There is much yet to know and appreciate. The future of the breed depends on the expertise of owners and breeders who have the best interests of the horse at heart. There are many who think that the Peruvian Paso is worthy of preserving and are doing their best to ensure that the best qualities of the breed go forward. However, we all must be serious in our acknowledgment of the problems that face the breed as a whole and continue to educate ourselves and new owners about the lameness issues which prevail in spite of people’s best efforts to ignore them.
