Kokoda tribute
This year our annual Anzac Day coin marks the 80 th anniversary of one of Australia ’ s most significant World War II campaigns .
The tribute piece portrays troops climbing the mountainous Kokoda Trail , scene of a series of fierce engagements between Japanese and Allied forces during 1942 / 43 in the Australian Territory of Papua .
Including a symbolic flaming torch and the inscription ‘ LEST WE FORGET ’, the coin is presented on a commemorative card featuring a fold-out stand for upright display .
