What is truly frightening is that some men still believe that it ’ s okay to paw women when they see something they like . In 2016 , this can be considered sexual assault . Many men understand that this is unacceptable but many don ’ t . Unfortunately , this doesn ’ t stop some from pushing the limits .
Sexual harassment isn ’ t just physical , it can be verbal and digital .
Last year , I met an enormously tall man , 20 years my senior , at a business lunch who surprised me with a phone call to ask me out the day after I met him .
“ Well … I don ’ t usually go out with men as tall as you …”, I said , without realizing at the time that it was my intuition talking , “ but I guess that would be okay …”.
I had a long phone conversation with him a couple of evenings later . I expected to have an uplifting intellectual conversation , but soon he started to talk about my body and sexual practices . It was strange , completely unexpected , and kind of creepy .
“ Would a gentleman do that ?” I asked , somewhat mystified at what would prompt him to say anything like that .
He asked me what I was going to do that night and I told him that I had a BBC documentary cued up called “ Food on the Brain ”.
“ I have your figure on the brain ,” he responded .
“ Not so much of that , okay ? It makes me uncomfortable ,” I typed back .
Once I switched our conversations to business-only communications , this Frankenstein monster stopped his terrible texts and frightening phone calls .
Scary dates , rude manners , and excessive grooming should be raked up and set on fire for a good , ripping bonfire at this , or any other time of year . Only true gentlemen shall pass through the flames of the gentleman ’ s bonfire purified , polite , and preferred .
He began to send incessant text messages ( that I still have on my phone , should I ever need to use them in a court of law ).
“ When will the gentleman make is appearance ?”
I asked after he shared some very personal details about his libido .
“ Ha ! Ouch !” he responded .
He wanted to see me that evening but had a business meeting to attend . This didn ’ t stop him from sending out a storm of sexual texts .
“ I ’ m going to text you suggestive messages throughout my business dinner this evening ,” he wrote .
