The Perfect Gentleman Issue 8 - Halloween | Page 36
This is something I thought I would
not be writing but here I am putting
pen to paper writing a piece about a
true gentleman who sadly is no
longer here to grace our world with
his presence.
He left the Perfect Gentleman to
pursue his passion for cigars and
launched the UK Cigar Scene
magazine, which soon became a
must read for all the cigar friends
from London to New York.
I first met Nic Wing, through our
mutual friend Andy Nichol, though
we had both been around the cigar
scene for some time we had not
bumped into each other.
He managed their as he had done
with us at the Perfect Gentleman to
be friends with all, no matter what
side of the business you may have
been or rivalries that may have
existed.
Our first meeting over a cigar, set
the tone for rest of our association, if
there wasn't a cigar close at hand,
there was a large lump of cheese.
Another passion we both shared.
I inveigled Nic into helping me with
the Perfect Gentleman at it's earliest
point. His influence runs through
the very fabric of the DNA of this
company. In fact this magazine is
very much part of his legacy.
In fact as co-author of the 1st PG
book, his influence will never fade.
I will, as the days move forward,
recall more of our conversations
about cigars, tea, food, music, people
and life.
But at the moment all I can do is
miss a partner, a friend and a no
finer example of a Gentleman that
ever walked this earth.
We will miss you always here at
PGHQ and wherever you are, we are
sure that you are making it better
just by your presence.
Apart from Cheese & Cigars, we
shared a passion for making the
world that little bit more
gentlemanly. He always led by
example and showed that to all,
especially his wonderful children.
He was charming, generous, witty,
intelligent and friend to all.
