Wherever you go in the world , everyone will be proud of their local cuisine ; that special dish that they do that no one else does , or no one else does in quite the same way . Grounded in the local produce , grown in the local soil , the local animals that can be caught or hunted , that place ' s food has developed to reflect the personality of the whole community . visiting another part of your own country that you are not familiar with . There is nothing wrong with being a tourist , so wear the label with pride . Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture , the local way of life . Try as much of the local food as you can , and do what the locals do , without missing out on the opportunity to see the sites in a way that living in a place never seems to give you the free time to do . Once you have returned home , have a look at your own city and realise how much there is still to explore in your own back yard , and acknowledge that it would take a lifetime to truly complete all exploration of any holiday destination , so leave the ' doing ' to activities , and don ' t rush to tick off a location after the first visit .
