“No, of course, it’s not, but you’re not James Bond either so I improvised,” I said laughing. "Oh that’s too bad, I would have loved to be your Augustus, Hazel Grace,” he said smiling. I smile too and start walking towards my spot on the beach, while he follows me. “May I join you, my lady?” “ Yes, you may”. Laughing, he lay down beside me. “ I’m really surprised that you’ve seen TFIOS. Most boys run miles away from romantic movies.” “Well I’m an exception I guess, and don’t tell this to anyone but I watched it with my little sister and cried a river in the movie theatre. My sister didn’t even shed a tear. I think she’s a zombie or is heartless or maybe both.” I stared at him with wide eyes and we both started laughing loudly. As we both calmed down, I saw a shooting star and pointed the same to him and we both quickly closed our eyes and made a wish. I wished that this night would never end and honestly, it felt like it never did end. We spent the whole night talking about life and staring at the night sky and I couldn't even recall when we fell asleep. But as I woke up, I realised that I was all alone and I started wondering whether all of it was just a dream. However, as I got up, I noticed a drawing on the sand which proved to me that last night was very much real. The drawing showed a big circle labelled as 'All the people in the world' and a dot in the middle labelled as 'The only beautiful soul in the world- you,’ and signed it off as ‘Love, your Augustus.’ The craziest thing was out of everything we talked about, we never exchanged our real names. I guess he’ll always just be my Augustus. -Disha Bagchi; Photographs titled ‘At the Beach’ by Abhitha Mohan
