Pets are sensitive to loud noises , flashing lights , and strong smells . Even dogs in fenced in yards can find ways to escape and run from noises like digging and jumping . Here are a few tips on how to keep your fourlegged friends safe this 4th of July !
IN ADVANCE :
Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with up to date identification tags Have your pet microchipped if they aren ' t already ( all pets adopted from Arlington Animal Services are microchipped prior to leaving the shelter ) Take an updated picture of your pet Talk to your veterinarian about anti-anxiety medications
Mobile Pet Adoptions are BACK ! We are so excited for the Sparano Family & the Sanders family who adopted these two adorable puppies at the first offsite adoption event of 2021 ! These adoptions will continue the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month ( weather permitting ).
DURING CELEBRATIONS :
It is best to leave pets safely indoors with a safe place to hide Turn on the TV or radio to soften outside noises . If you are hosting guests , ask them to keep an eye on your pet and place notes of exit doors and gate reminding guests to securely close them when leaving Keep your pets busy with treats and toys like Kongs to help distract them from the outside noise
