Fire Safety & Your Pets !

July 15th is National Pet Fire Safety Day ! Take this opportunity to ensure you are practicing fire safety at home every day !

HAPPY TAILS

Remove Potential Hazards :
Pets are curious so to avoid accidents from happening , never leave an open flame , such as a candle or fireplace unattended . Securing wires and cords is also important , as dogs or cats chewing on them could lead to an electrical fire . If you ’ re worried about something that could cause harm , keep it out of your pets reach !
Make a Plan :
The most important thing you can do is be prepared and have a plan . Ensure that your home is well equipped with working smoke ( and carbon monoxide ) detectors in every room of your home . Get your entire family involved and make a plan for who is responsible for the evacuation of your pets when planning your emergency escape .
Rescue Alert Stickers :
These easy to use stickers help alert people that you have pets inside your home . Make sure the sticker is visible to rescue workers ( the ASPCA recommends placing it on or near your front door ), and that it includes the types and number of pets in your home . The ASPCA offers a FREE Pet Safety Pack online . You can click here to order yours !
Fatima was adopted from Arlington Animal Services on July 2nd . Her new owner and best friend , Brad , sent us an update saying she is the best dog ever ! They are already going on adventures and making memories together . We are so thankful for every adoption and appreciate seeing updates !
