Staff Spotlight ! Newspaper Needed !

Jennifer , better known to everyone as Jen , is the master behind the camera , and the person we all have to thank for all of the amazing pictures we see on pet profiles and social media ! We wanted to share a staff spotlight this month to let you know who is behind these fun , and much needed updated pictures , we all see and love . Jen started working in the animal welfare world 21 years ago , and this week celebrates 1 year being back at Arlington Animal Services . Great pictures help get animals adopted as quickly as possible , and with animals coming into the shelter daily , it is important to find the pets homes as quickly as possible . Another daily task Jen is responsible for is animal assessments of our pets . Prior to going up for adoptions , Jen evaluates our dogs , which includes dog to dog tests , and behavior evaluations . This assessment helps us relay more information to potential adopters or rescue partners ! Thank you Jen for all you do to help our shelter animals !
If you receive , or read a paper newspaper , the cats & kittens at AAS need your help ! Staff uses newspaper daily to line our cat kennels which helps with cleaning and preventing the spread of disease . You can drop your newspaper donations off at the shelter in the black donations box located near the Animal Receiving & Moritz Clinic doors .

Kennel Enrichment !

Kennel enrichment is so important because it helps reduce the stress of being in a shelter environment . It helps staff improve the daily quality of care we provide to our animals by increasing mental stimulation in a positive way . From snuffle mats & flavored bubbles , to peanut butter filled kongs and lick mats … to our summer favorite , pupsicles ! We just wanted to say thank you to all who donate to help us provide this special enrichment for the shelter animals ! You are truly helping make a difference in their lives and we , especially the pets , appreciate you !

Happy Tails !

On July 10th , Officer Fernandez , and a pup named Doppler , were featured as the APD Furever Friday Pick of the Week ! Safe to say it was love at first site because the following morning , Officer Fernandez officially adopted Doppler ! We know these two are going to be best friends furever !
