HAPPY TAILS
The big announcement had to wait a little longer this year due to the inclement weather that blanketed our City , but we are so excited to finally share the 2022 Winners of the Sheri Capehart Animal Essay Contest .
This year , young writers wowed our judges with stories about robots and apps to help shelters thrive , new holidays to celebrate how amazing animals are and MORE ! This contest , in it ' s 21st year , encourages students in grades 3rd through 6th , who reside in the City of Arlington , to write an essay over an assigned animal related topic . This year ' s essay topics were :
3rd grade - If you could make up a holiday for animals , what holiday would it be and how would you celebrate it ? 4th grade- How do you think animals communicate with people ? 5th grade- If you could make one rule for the world to follow about animals and everyone had to follow it ... what would that rule be ? 6th grade- In 2060 how will animal shelters be different than they are today ?
Each year we continue to be amazed by the creativity of young minds . They have a passion for animals and when you read the essays , you feel their want to help and desire to make a difference .
