Responsible Pet Ownership Day !
On August 13th Arlington Animal Services celebrated Responsible Pet Ownership Day !
The day was filled with education about what it means to be a responsible pet owner and celebrating owners who pledge to care for their pets for the life of their pets !
What is Responsible Pet Ownership ? At Arlington Animal Services we want to educate and remind the community about what owning a pet involves . As a responsible pet owner you must : Commit ! Commit to your pet for the life of your pet ! Invest ! Invest the time and money needed to care for your pet ! Obey ! Obey animal related laws including providing food , water , and shelter and keeping pets on a leash while in public places ! Limit ! Limit the number of unwanted pets and help with the over pet population problem by having pets spayed or neutered . Prepare ! Prepare for emergencies by having a safe plan that includes your pets !
We want to take this time to say thank you to 24 PetWatch for their generous donation of microchips that we were able to provide , free of cost , to Arlington residents and to the following pet vendors who joined us at the event : Petco , Wag Time , Canine Companion , Texas Cares Foundation , Friends of Arlington Animal Services & Dog Scouts of America .
The day was also made possible thanks to dedicated volunteers who filled every area of the shelter with smiles and extra joy helping make the day a big success !
HAPPY TAILS
Neeson was a VIP Adoptable Shelter Dog , having a hard time finding his forever family . A beautiful , big dog , Neeson was also deaf , and struggling to gain any attention from the public in his kennel . Neeson was featured as the Arlington Police Furever Friday Pick of the week with the newest graduating class . Shortly after , thanks to shares on social media , Neeson found his forever person . She is also deaf , and plans to teach her new beloved pet sign language . We are so happy for Neeson and his happily ever after !
