“Hello?” A girl’s voice echoed in the hall. Bobby’s sister appeared in the living room. My head was stuck in the sleeve of my shirt as I tried to put it on in a hurry. She saw us, snarled, and continued on to the kitchen.

“Hi, Kaelly!” He sang her name, drawn out and teasing.

“Screw you.”
