The writing club is all about expressing your creative side and enjoying what you love doing, if you’re in year 7, 8 or 9 and love writing stories, this is the club for you!
We interviewed Mr Holbrook and 5 members of his writing club; this is what they said…
Q1. What do you think of the writing club?
Their answer was that writing club was fun, enjoyable and hilarious when writing the stories and reading them out to the rest of the group.
Q2. What is the purpose of the writing club?
They said the purpose of the club was to help students to become better writers.
Q3. Where and when does the club meet?
The writing club meets in LS3 at 1:00 PM every Monday lunchtime and after school until 4:30 (Or until they finish.)
Q4. Can anyone attend?
Mr Holbrook told us that anyone could attend as long as they are in year 7, 8 and 9, although, he did say that he is considering changing the rules next year.
Q5. Have you done any stories?
The girls said that the club writes stories on a weekly basis, there is a story challenge, and they read their stories the following week.
Q6. Have you ever entered any writing competitions?
One of the members won a poetry competition and got a teddy bear as a prize, Mr Holbrook informed us that the club will be launching its own competition after half term.
Q7. How long has this club been going on for?
Mr Holbrook said that he started the club in October 2013, which was three months ago.
Q8. What sort of thing are you doing at the moment?
At the moment, the club is working on Science Fiction and fantasy stories.
Q9. What are your plans for the future?
Mr Holbrook explained that the club plans to be involved in the writing competition; they will take all the stories and create a book. They’ll publish it as a collection of short stories of around two thousand words.
