Econet Wireless Holdings
has continued with its
innovation with the roll out
of its solar lantern donations to charitable
and religious organisations.
Last month, Econet donated 3000 solar
lanterns to Chinyaradzo and Shungu
Dzevana Children’s Homes, as well as to
the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe
(EFZ) and the Zimbabwe Council of
Churches (ZCC).
Econet Chief Executive Officer,
Douglas Mboweni, told the recipients that
his company saw this as “a way of giving
back to the community after having a
blessed year.
“Since we started this (donation of
solar lanterns), we have received good
feedback from orphanages that received
the lanterns.
“We have had testimonies of children
excelling in examinations because they
can now study for longer hours during
the night, even at the height of power
shortages,” Mr Mboweni said.
The lanterns helped students from
these orphanages to add more hours
to their studies, resulting in one of the
students scoring 13 points in last year’s
Advanced Level examinations. The
student has proceeded to university.
Mrs
Mutyambizi,
one
of
the
representatives of the orphanages,
Shungu Dzevana Children’s Home, said
they were grateful to Econet and hoped
the latest donations will further help

improve the lives of the disadvantaged
children at the home.
Good Shana of the Zimbabwe Council
of Churches (ZCC) speaking on behalf
of church organisations under their
umbrella, thanked Econet for the
donations, saying the lanterns will go a
long way in aiding their work.
Meanwhile, Econet’s chief marketing
officer, Isaiah Nyangari, revealed to The
Parade that his organization had gone into
producing the lanterns largely because
it wanted to keep all its subscribers
connected all the time.
“We have about eight million
subscribers and we had to find ways of
keeping them connected all the time in
light of the constant power shortages our
consumers face,” he sa ?B??'?7F???r6???V7FVB?F?R7V'67&?&W'0?v?V?B??B?726???B??&P????'F?F??F?W?v?V?B??B?72????W?G&?6fW"F??RF?&?Vv?F?R?V? ?V6?66??Ff?&??????v&??6?&WfV?VBF?BV?v??VW'0?vW&Rv?&???r????7&V6??rF?RGW&F?????bF?R6??"??FW&??v?Bv??6??0?&W6V?F?Bb??W'2??R6?B2'@??b?G2G&F?F????V6??WBv????v?26VV??F?&R????fF?fR?Bf??B?Wrv?2?`???&?f??rV??^( ?2?fW2??F?R?FW7B??FW&?2??R6?B???r6??P?v?F?&F????FF?F???F?F?R6V?????P?6?&vW"??F?R6?f??&?FV7F???FW'F?V?B?0??6?V&?&?VBF?&V6V?fR#??FW&?0???&V6?v??F????bF?V?"v?&???&?FV7F??p?6?F??V?2GW&??rF??W2?bF?67FW'2??F?RV6??WB6??"V?W&w??76???F?R&FR????&'v^( ?2??7B&VB?fW7G??R?v???P??7FFV?V?B??F?6FW2F?B?G2'B?`?F?V?"w&VV?6??v???v??6?F?W?&P???fW7F??r??&R???FW&?F?fRV?W&v?W2??&?6??rV?f?&???V?F?v&V?W72?@???Wf?F??rF?R7&???r??7B?`?v?'6V???r?vW"7WG2??6W'f?6W2??6??6WVV?F??F?R6?????2&VV??f??fVB??f&??W2w&?V?B'&V???p????F?F?fW2??RF?R???R?vW"7FF?????&Wf??WF???'??7F?B???RV?V7G&?6?G??6??WF???FW6?v?VBf?"F??6R??&V2v?W&P?F?W&R?2??66W72F?F?Rw&?B?"6?W&6R?`?7W7F??&?R?B&V?&?R?vW"??F??2&?GV7Bv2?V?6?VB'?F?P?&V?B?bV6??WBv?&V?W72???&'vR?F?P?V6??WBv?&V?W72w&?W??6?WF?g&?6??&6???#?B?B?2&VV??VFVB2?f?&?R?FW&?F?fR6??WF???F?F?R&?&?V??b?vW"??F?R6??F??V?B???V?v???R?V6??WBv?&V?W72?26??@??fW"CV??G2?b?G26??"?vW&V@???&??R???R6?&vW'2F??W7F??FV@?3??W6V???G2?V???rF?V?F?7F??6???V7FVB??F?RF??R??F?R6??"6?&vW'2?v??6?6??Rv?F????FW&???fR&V6V?fVB?6?F?fRfVVF&6??g&????&??R???RW6W'2?'F?7V?&????F?R&V??FR&V2??V???rV6??WB&V?6P???&R&WfV?VR??F?R&?6W72??F&??wF????F?fV?v?F?R6??V`?W?V7WF?fR?bV6??WB6W'f?6W2F??B&W70?6??fW&V?6R???&&R&V6V?F?F?BF??0?v2??Rv?'?v??6???26????v0??V???rFV?v?F?F?R&?&?V??b?vW ?6??'FvW2??F?R&V6V?F??V?6?VB??&?fV@?fW'6????bF?R6??"6?&vW"WfV??2F?P?6&??G??b6?&v??r6?'B???W2?F?P?4RF??B??W&??7G2?B6??W2v?F?Gv???&??R???P?6?&v??r?'G2?2vV??2?d?&F???&??#0???
