used to be. Years past, I could buy a ten pack of pencils 3/$1, but last year they were 2/$1. Who knows what they will be this year. Also, don’t sleep on office supply stores sales. They are one of the best deals I’ve seen when it comes to back to school shopping. So be sure to keep that in mind.

An area that you may not have considered for organization are your things. Especially if you are a stay at home mom. Make sure you have clothes that are presentable to drop the kids off in the event you must run in the school at the last minute. Take inventory of what you have and what you need. Could you use a new hoodie that looks nice and not slouchy? Are your jeans presentable enough for parent meetings? Do you have at least one pair of slacks and a nice blouse for concerts and recitals? What about your makeup? Are you a mom like me that has two sets of makeup?

have a nice pair of slacks and a blouse for concerts and recitals? What about your makeup? Are you a mom like me that has two sets of makeup? I have one that I wear around the house and for quick errands. The other set is for going out on dates with my husband, school functions (not the quick drop offs), or any other place I typically dress up for. The first set is my drug store makeup while the second set is from a department store. Get rid of any old makeup you no longer use and get new makeup if you need it.

Some moms get extra fancy and change out all the bedding and curtains in the home. I do have two sets of bedding, one for spring/summer and one for fall/winter. Living in the Southwest I typically do

not change my bedding out until around October or November. Around October is when I get my home fall ready. this transition is necessary for me to get in the fall mood. This is when I break out my fall decor such as glass pumpkins, leaves and my fall scented candles. I even switch out my hand soaps and air fresheners for fall scents. I typically hate letting go of summer so this transition is necessary for me to get in the fall mood.

One of the main priorities of a homemaker is being prepared for what’s coming next. School has been in session and often budgets do not allow for us to shop all at one time for the things we know we will need. One can usually get whatever the family needs as long as you’re prepared. Try your absolute hardest to prepare for upcoming expenses and needs, but don’t forget to have fun!
