lead singles or groups into these huge coastal caves,
some of which dead-end, while others have an exit
to paddle out of! That’s the exciting aspect of the
San Francisco Bay, it offers the paddler so many
different options to enjoy in a typical paddling day!

Outside the gate, on the north side is a long stretch
of rugged coastline made up of cliffs that are
hundreds of feet high, with numerous rocky coves
tucked into the shoreline, offering a challenging
playground for the brave hearted!

water moving rapidly through the SF entrance
with each tide cycle and up to four tide cycles
per day, tidal races and standing waves abound!
