No matter our team members’
backgrounds, as Coach Brain
rightly said “Every single person
brought something unique to the
expedition, whether it was
motivation, technical skills and
knowledge, marshmallows or even
songs, everybody was 100%
valued and earned their place”.
It was a trip of firsts for every
single person regardless of
experience, be that physically
paddling, doing this particular
route, wild camping, or even
kayaking along a canal rather than
white or open water. The bond

we share as consequence will
remain with us for a life time. At
the end of the expedition, Chris
commented “I am so proud of
what we all achieved, overcoming
our fears, personal expectations
and what we accomplished
ultimately as a team” – I echo his
sentiments.
