PADDLERUK 18 By Dave Rossetter – Head of Paddlespo Principles of learning Introduction The previous articles have focused on different areas to do with coaching. These have covered areas such as what we do to improve, psychological aspects of paddling, technical skills along with tactics and planning. However, as a coach one of the critical areas is that of the learner. What factors or baggage do they bring to the coaching session? Considering these factors I want to look at some critical areas that have been found to underpin successful learning. “The conditions that we create for our learners are vital with the emphasis of learning being on the student who is learning.” (Jarvis 2006)
