Most people who love water sports will by now have the ultimate changing robe , generically referred to as a ‘ Dryrobe ’. If you happen to have this brand , you will be well aware of the quality that is synonymous with it . Back in 1983 , the company created a product that didn ’ t exist before , and the rest , as they say , is history .
So , I was excited to receive their new waterproof hooded Poncho to test , and it probably could not have come in a better year weather-wise . Summer has been a very long time coming , and we have been constantly battered by rain and wind . While the temperature has improved , the rain has not subsided . All hail the ‘ Poncho ’!
It arrived in its drawstring stash bag with a carabiner , and as with all the Dryrobe products , you immediately noticed the high quality of the fabric and attention to detail . The sizing is unisex with a one-size-fits-all fit , and it does feel incredibly roomy for me as a size 12 / 5 ’ 8 ” woman . It is available in three colours : their signature black , a very cool blue camo , and bright yellow , which has the look of a traditional sou ’ wester coat . Great colour choices for those who either love to be seen or not !
Top features include – breathable and waterrepellent up to 10,000mm . It is made with a unique 3-layer textured fabric , finished with a PFC-free water-repellent technology . Fully taped seams create a solid barrier against wind and water – this attention to detail makes all the difference to how this performs – durable rip-stop textured fabric , which is incredibly lightweight . Silver reflective logos are always great to be seen in the dark ! A 2-way adjustable hood with a peak means you will be cosily protected against all the elements , whether rain or glare . External chest pocket for essentials that is big enough for the largest phone , keys , etc . Super quality YKK ® Waterproof AquaGuard zips . A small stash bag so you can transport the Poncho easily and anywhere , especially if space is at a premium , is perfect for outdoor activities or festivals .
The Poncho is breathable and waterproof , and the water-repellent finish means that water beads and rolls off the surface rather than soaking into the fabric . Trying to get an image of the Poncho when it ’ s wet is almost impossible ! It is also made from 100 % recycled Polyester ( recycled post-consumer plastic ) – Dryrobe are committed to producing products that last for years and years , therefore encouraging customers to not buy more than they need . I am confident that every piece I have from Dryrobe will far outlast my lifetime due to its sheer quality and sustainability .
It ’ s always worth looking at a company ’ s website as it can give you a good indication of who they are and what their values are too and Dryrobe has partnered with some of the world ’ s leading brands and inspiring organisations like Team GB , RNLI , USA Surfing and Save the Waves Coalition to name but a few . They are a Certified B-Corp company too .
My Poncho will definitely keep me dry on my adventures for more months than it should due to the very changeable British weather , but I am very grateful to have another great-quality Dryrobe product in my kit ! Price £ 120.00
