In 1937, Rittlinger, paddled the Amazon from its source
rivers Marañón and Huallaga, solo with his folding kayak
from 3,845 metres. After a year of serious planning and
three weeks of acclimatization, the team of four paddled in
his strokes to kayak the upper Amazon.
