Brights Founded originally in 1924 by brothers Robert and Harry Bright, Southend’s oldest established locksmith’s, has built its sterling reputation within the community on knowledge, ethics and trust. Steve at Brights Locksmiths Locksmiths Steve (a Master Locksmith Association member for over 14 years) is continuing the Bright’s tradition, through his passion, transparency and integrity. Steve was just 14 when he started with the Bright brothers as an apprentice. He trained for five years, learning the traditional ways and intricacies of the trade, before graduating to a fully qualified locksmith. He also passed the Auto Locksmith Exam, which means that he is able to provide a vehicle locksmithing service. Steve says, “Southend is a lovely place to live and I want to keep it that way, by making it a safe place to live”. That is why he is happy to give up his time for free, to attend luncheons, so that he can offer up recommendations, that will keep valuables safe, without the customer needing to spend a fortune. Steve also works closely with neighbourhood watch and minority groups. He adds “Your home is your castle’ and in order to keep it that way, there are a range of deterrents and services available, which can empower people and help combat antisocial behaviour like Hate Crime. One solution to this despicable problem, is to invest in an Intercom that records both audio and visuals. Brights can supply and fit the intercom for £288 inc VAT”. “However, for some homeowners, securityis seen as a negative buy, but acknowledge that the protection of possessions is necessary. At Brights, we have a different perspective, because we see security as a saving”. “Complacency and procrastination can cost you dearly in lots of other ways. Insurance companies may replace everyday items, but what of family heirlooms and other personal items? There is also the emotional impact to take into consideration. That is why at Brights, we believe that prevention is better than cure. Securing your home or business costs less than you think. For example, for the price of a meal for two, you can upgrade your door’s security with a five lever mortice deadlock, supplied and fitted for just £100 giving you complete peace of mind”. “Most security is common sense, but we have listed some useful tips on our website for your peace of mind. If you have any queries, Steve is happy to offer sound and unbiased advice. In fact, quiet often customers come into the shop to seek guidance, without spending a penny”. Steve is proud of his association with Brights and continues to strive for excellence by pushing the boundaries. Indeed, through his pioneering work, he has invented three new products that not only enhances security, but also his reputation and that of Brights Locksmiths. www.thepackmagazine.co.uk 39
