A FRESH APPROACH
Last year saw the debut of our Outsourced Trading Survey following industry feedback and the rapid emergence of the service , and this year we ' re back and better than ever . Over the next few pages , you will see several changes . Firstly , we have brought this survey in line with our other surveys – with a 1 – 7 rating , where 1 is Unacceptable and 7 is Excellent . Last year ’ s scores have been adjusted to match this system , allowing us to compare ratings with 2023 .
We have also adjusted our thresholds , now requiring providers to receive at least 10 responses from their clients to have a write-up in this report . This is to ensure we get an accurate picture of what clients really think . Also , with the goal of ensuring data is accurate , this survey was conducted on our bespoke survey platform , allowing providers to access the backend and confirm that clients providing their ratings are in fact their clients ( Don ’ t worry , providers can only see the company name , not the scores or comments ). Finally , you will notice that we have slightly changed our writing style . In line with our other research , we have taken a more conversational approach , with new layout , charts and commentary which we hope you will find informative and enjoyable .
We would love to hear from you , your thoughts on the changes , what you do like , what you don ’ t like , and how you think we can improve this report for you ! Any thoughts you have please do not hesitate to reach out to OTsurvey @ thetradenews . com . We hope you enjoy the report – happy reading !
Methodology This Outsourced Trading survey , conducted jointly by The TRADE and Global Custodian in consultation with Ergo Consultancy , set out to gather and collate client perceptions of outsourced trading providers about the service they are receiving . Service providers were invited to ask their clients to complete a questionnaire via an anonymous link , which was also made available to readers of The TRADE and Global Custodian . In addition to gathering qualifying information , the questionnaire asked participants to rate the service received across nine service categories on a scale of one to seven . These scores were then aggregated for the provider tables on the pages that follow ( See below for more information on how these were calculated ). In addition to the ratings themselves , other factors informed the write-ups the providers themselves were asked to complete a separate provider questionnaire , covering the shape of their business and any recent developments they thought we should take into consideration . We thank all clients and providers who took part in the exercise and would welcome feedback , which will be taken into account in formulating the 2025 survey . Please email : OTsurvey @ thetradenews . com . More granular information on the survey results is available by arrangement . For all enquiries , please contact : daljit . sokhi @ globalcustodian . com .
Last year the OST survey used a 1-10 scale rating system . This year , we have brought our rating system in line with our other surveys and moved to a 1-7 system , with 1 being Unacceptable and 7 being Excellent . Of course , this raised the question of how to compare last years results with this year . This problem had a simple solution , with a formula allowing GC research to easily convert 1-10 into 1-7 . To create the new result , the “ target value ” is equal to 1 / 3 + ( 2 / 3 ) * “ Current Scale Value ”. For example , say last year the score received was 9.13 to get the new 2024 score you would simply enter the formula “= 1 / 3 +( 2 / 3 )* 9.13 ” which gives the new 2024 score of 6.42 . If you would like to discuss the formula or conversion of the scores please feel free to reach out to otsurvey @ thetradenews . com . Please note that scores can be subject to rounding .
