16 - Issue 7 November-December 2013 (verse 12). When the Magi left, God appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to escape with Mary and Jesus because ‘Herod will seek the young child to destroy him’. After they left, Herod ordered all the young boys who were two years old or younger, according to the time at which the Magi told him that the star had appeared over Jesus (verse 16, verse 7). That’s how we know that the Magi, or wise men, were never at the ‘nativity scene’. They came two years later. And the Bible never said how many there were. The reason that the number is traditionally thought to be three is that there were three different gifts they gave Jesus, namely gold, frankincense, and myrrh. You can read all about it in Matthew chapter 2. MEET PUNNY PETE: THE PUNNIEST GUY ON EARTH. Be astounded by the cheerly uproarious puns. I’m not lion to you – it’ll be rewording. Guaranteed.
