CELEBRATION OF AWARD-WINNING CHATTA PROGRAMME PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS
In March 2023 , Pocklington School hosted a celebration event to mark the conclusion of a three-year project supporting 12 schools in Hull in partnership with the award-winning education innovation Chatta .
Chatta is a whole-class teaching method , based on pictures and storyboards and linked with spoken language . One of the main aims is to model language using pictures to scaffold content and help children with their working memory which can lead to wider vocabulary use .
The project was funded by Shine Trust , a charity which aims to address challenges faced by disadvantaged children across the North of England .
Toby Seth , Headmaster , Pocklington School reflected : “ This was a true celebration of a project which has shown impressive collaboration between several partners : state and independent education , third sector funding and Chatta itself . Pocklington School has been proud to be involved in the project , and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next . Having had the opportunity to watch Chatta in action at local primary schools , I know it works and feel sure that the benefits will be long lasting .”
Chatta completed a successful year by being awarded runner-up for the best Co-Production Project in the Global Edtech awards 2023 .

WARRENDALE FARM CAREERS AND BUSINESS INSIGHT DAY
Fifth and Lower Sixth pupils toured Warrendale Farms , part of a Yorkshire based Wagyu beef business which works with over 500 farmer partners across the UK . The visit gave pupils an understanding of the scale of variety of jobs available within the business and the opportunity to speak with staff about key skills , competencies , and qualifications necessary for employment in the food production sector .
Pocklington School is very pleased to work with Warrendale Farms , who have recently donated a bursary in perpetuity for the Shape the Future Bursary Fund .
