SOCIAL & REUNIONS
DINOSAUR CLUB LUNCHEON hold it every two years instead.
The third Dinosaur Club Luncheon took place on
Thursday 29 September 2016 at The Bridge Hotel
in Walshford near Wetherby with over 40 OPs and
their spouses and partners gathered for this now
biennial event. The most senior dinosaurs in attendance were
Brian King (39-45), Jack Wilson (39-46) and
Brian Thackray (42-47) and the youngest dinosaur
was John Emms (56-66) who was attending the
event for the first time.
This was the third Dinosaur Club Luncheon to take
place since its inception in 2011. David Richardson
(46-53) came up with the idea to hold an event
specifically for OPs who left the school 50 years
ago or more and with a little bit of help from the
OP office, the Dinosaur Club Luncheon was born!
Originally planned to take place once every three
years, the event was so popular that OPs voted to Thanks go to David Leggot (48-55), John Barton
(46-51) and Trevor Moody (46-50) amongst
others for bringing in some of their photographs
from school which prompted much reminiscing and
plenty of stories!
Sheena McNamee, External Relations Director said
“It is fantastic to see so many of our senior OPs
gathered together today. I have loved listening to the
stories of their school days; it really brings the history
of the school to life.”
Thank you to David Richardson for his assistance in
organising and hosting the event, to Paul Hutton
(49-56) for grace, and to Andrew Wilson (89-99),
OP President, and Sheena McNamee who both
gave a brief address.
The date for the next Dinosaur Club Luncheon will
be on Thursday 27 September 2018. OPs who
left in 1968 or earlier will be eligible to attend, so
look out for further details to be announced nearer
the time.
