1. Who are the Old Order Amish?
The Old Order Amish (the conservative wing of the Amish in general) are a religious group that can be found mainly in the United States of America. Their history goes back as far as the17th century and their communities exist even today. They live in communes, separated from the rest of the world, following the rules of their religion and maintaining a self-sustainable way of life. They are regarded as a very controversial religious group due to their belief and attitude towards the ‘outer’ society. They have faced difficulties throughout their whole existence: they have been persecuted, judged, disrespected and ridiculed. However, they have been able to stay strong and alive, even in the modern world.
