a good year that started in February. Usually, when we start in February, we don’ t have a good year. A lot of our folks that were running tubing with check valve spouts had a six-week season. Sugar content was one percent lower than average in 2015. This year, we were seeing a little bit below 2 to 3 tenths of a percent lower than normal. That was what I was hearing. ERIC KLATT of Knapp, Wisc. and his Double E sugarhouse is part of the rapid expansion in the Badger State. Klatt doubles as a tubing installer around the state, in addition to boiling off of 7,000 taps of his own.
SUGARMAKER Todd Thompson with brother Jay and mother Georgene. The family taps about 7,500 in and around Knapp, Wisc. and boil on a 4x14 natural gas evaporator at 18 to 20 percent concentrate.
