SUMMARY OF SEASON

here’s an expression in New England:
“If you don’t like the weather, wait ten
minutes.”   While this is normally the case
in our most northeastern state, Maine, it
wasn’t the case during the 2014 sugaring
season.  This year sugar makers, especially
in southern and central Maine, waited and
waited and well waited some more.  
Most sugar makers in southern Maine,
were tapped and ready to make syrup by
the middle of February, some even by the
end of January
