O2 Academy
Getting you
through the
post-festival
blues
Every year it’s the same story; you’ve had the time of
your life at your festival of choice and you just want to
keep those summer party days rolling into the autumn.
Well the O2 Academy knows how you feel, so they are
bringing you some incredible acts to help you keep hold
of that festival feeling.
September is packed with talent at the O2 with the
likes of Homeplanetearth, Sundara Karma and Rat Boy
all taking to the Oxford stage. Rat Boy in particular has
been catching the national headlines after a sold-out UK
tour in May which included headlining Brixton Electric.
The rise of this indie Essex wide boy continues with
the confirmation of his largest headline tour including
Oxford’s O2 on September 23.
British soul star Michael Kiwanuka is bringing his latest
UK tour to the O2 on October 19, during another packed
musical month. Having taken a deep breath and relaxed
into his musical approach, Kiwanuka is back, and has
delivered his eagerly anticipated second album – and
it packs a powerful punch. Kiwanuka isn’t the only soul
sensation to be performing at the O2 in October as the
legendary UB40 will headline in Oxford on October 7
before underground rock heroes Lonely The Brave bring
the noise back to the latter half of the month on October
18.
November is usually a month for getting in your
Christmas shopping and saving for the big December 25
family onslaught, but the O2 are always trying to tempt
you out for something, and this year is no exception. Hot
off their main stage performance at Download Festival,
Alien Ant Farm embark on a huge run of UK shows. The
band return to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their

multi-million selling debut album, Anthology, as they
play the record in full on November 6. Further highlights
in November include a visit from Local Natives on
November 1 supporting their latest LP release ‘Sunlit
Youth’ and on November 18 Little Red will be casting
their spell over Oxford with support from Roberto Y Juan
and Peerless Pirates.
