Where to eat
Hoof it to The Lamb on the Strand
Lamb on The Strand near
Semington
I’ve seen a nice pub on the main road between
Trowbridge and Devizes and wondered what it’s like?
Well why not pop your head in the door and have a
look? The Ocelot has and were very impressed by the
quality of service, food and overall feel of The Lamb on
the Strand near Semington. A quaint pub with a lot going
for it. The landlords Ian and Bronia Buckingham clearly
both have a vision for their establishment, focusing on
high-end food and drink with excellent delivery, but still
open and welcoming to all. Accessible class is the best
way to define their operation.
Wow, so basically a gastropub then?
For want of a better word, yes. But The Lamb on the
Strand offer much more than just a top notch dinner. Their
garden area is simply superb, extremely well kept with
comfortable seating on a main decking area, and large
bench seating for bigger groups to enjoy the sunshine
under large canopy umbrellas. If you’d rather stay out of
the summer sun, or if it isn’t shining in Wiltshire on the day
of your visit, the interior of the pub is magnificent, with a
rustic charm but modern fixtures and fittings that echo the
quality of the food and drink on offer.
Sounds like a very nice place to take the family, would
they allow pets?
It is great for families with a small play area for kids
outside which is very easy to see from all areas of the
large garden, so any parent can be rest assured if little
Timmy falls off the swing you can easily try and catch
him. Inside is laid out spaciously and with groups in mind.
With regards to pets, if you have a well behaved dog
and you are popping in for a drink then there is usually
no problem, but we are sure most owners will use their
common sense with regards to whether their particular
pet would suit sitting in a restaurant or not. For instance, if
you’re taking your Boa Constrictor for a walk, it may not
be the most welcome guest.
This sounds brilliant, but what if my friends from
Siberia come to visit and I can’t have all 30 of them
stay in my house?
An unusual problem to have, but The Lamb on the Strand
also has two magnificent cottages on site that you can
book. Simply head to their website or find the pub
on TripAdvisor, where they are recognised as award
winners by the way, and let your Siberian friends slumber
in comfort and peace in the heart of the Wiltshire
countryside
How do I get in touch? I’m going to have my next
Sunday lunch there!
The Sunday lunch is simply incredible, so that’s a great
choice!
