Wedding of the year 14 - 2 March 2014 - The Observer S Bona Mugabe weds imba Chikore (40) and Bona Mugabe (24) are now husband and wife. The two were joined in the holy matrimony by the Vicar General of the Roman catholic Church, Father Muguti at the first family’s residence in Borrowdale, Harare. The groom, Simba, is a pilot, a Captain, at atar Airwas, where he uses the surname Mutsahuni, and not Chikore. Several delegates attended the ceremony, where Simba and Bona were in high spirits as they exchanged marriage vows. Chikore described Bona as a God fearing woman, whose patience is testimony of God’s faith and love to his people. Bona paid tribute to his husband, Simba, whom she said has made her a stronger woman. She added that she is more than excited to spend her whole life with him. Heads of state present at the ceremony were Dr Michael Sata of Zambia, DRC’s President Joseph Kabila and President Jacob Zuma of South African and President Teodore Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of the Equatorial Guinea. Former Zimbabwe Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai was left out from the list of high profile guests that attended President Robert Mugabe’s first born daughter Bona’s 18 hour wedding yesterday. Three serving presidents and three former heads of state from Sadc countries and beyond attended the wedding. President Mugabe, invited West African Equatorial Guinea leader, Nguema Mbasogo, South African President Jacob Zuma, Zambian president Michael Sata to join him in celebrating the wedding of his daughter. Luke Tamborinyoka, Tsvangirai’s spokesperson said his boss will spend the weekend at his rural home in Buhera when the first family will be celebrating at their swish Borrowdale Brook home. “We have just buried comrade William Bango at his rural home, and the former prime minister has just proceeded to his rural home where he will spend his weekend with his mother,” Tamborinyoka said. Tsvangirai was in Chivhu for the funeral of veteran journalist William Bango who passed on in a tragic accident on Tuesday. One interesting aspect of the wedding duo is the secrecy surrounding the groom’s age. In a Facebook post on the page The Wedding of Simba Chikore and Bona Kmugabe, the former said: “My age is a little bit personal. I mean would anyone really go around telling everyone how old he/ she is. It’s true and not a secret that Bona is 24 and very soon l know as the President’s son in law, you will all be knowing my age, that is if you don’t know it already. All l can say is that l am old enough to be her perfect husband. We match in everything including our age.” Informed sources who woeked with Chikore at Air Zimbabwe some six years ago confirmed that he is 40 years of age. As they say, Life begins at 40!■
