The FIFA World Cup is coming to New Jersey beginning in June. Law Enforcement across the State has been preparing for this moment for years and it’ s almost here. These games will bring millions of people from across the world to the United States and many to New Jersey. In environments like this, far less visible and one that operates in the shadows often hidden in plain sight.
I am talking about human trafficking. This crime often exploits our most vulnerable individuals and traffickers pray on using manipulation, coercion and exploitation. I have participated in round tables and spoken at events to raise awareness on this issue. I ask all of our Chiefs to make sure all our officers know the signs and focus on the victims in these cases. There are groups out there to help support victims. Let’ s all do our part to ensure that we combat human trafficking not only during the games but into the future as well.
The time of year has come, as we look forward to the 2026 New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Conference and Police Security Expo. The 1 st Vice President and his conference committee are hard at work on this year’ s conference. Please look out for registration for the conference as we will swear in Chief Carey and the rest of the Executive Board.
