We will discuss threat assessment and threat management basics and review New Jersey laws and policies when applied in a school environment. Weigh the unique threats faced by schools in urban environments and consider how targeted violence, terrorism and mass casualty events are part of the landscape. Look inside the best resources provided by the State of New Jersey Department of Education, the National Center for School Safety, and more.

Join Director Jeff Gale, from the Office of School Preparedness and Emergency Planning, one-on-one with Katherine Schweit as she discusses the challenges of preventing violence in school communities. We’ ll explore the threat assessment team structure and TAT turnovers, the law enforcement-education MOA, the role of School Safety Specialists, privacy considerations, and“ fit to return” orders. Bring your questions for an engaging conversation on building and sustaining effective programs, including how local law enforcement can best support these school-based teams.
