The 23rd session of the Police Executive Institute took place May 12-16, 2025, at the National Conference Center and Holiday Inn in East Windsor. The course opening day featured a presentation from former Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Remy on AI and technology’ s impact on law enforcement, as well as a presentation by Elizabeth Police Sergeant Paul Fidalgo, Detective Luis Figueiredo, and Officer Gina Haverty on embracing technology in law enforcement.
Day two started with“ Fatal Police Encounters— Briefing for New Jersey Police Executives” from Lt. Courtney Halaycio of the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, Office of the Attorney General, followed by a discussion on privately made firearms, led by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives SSA Joseph Sente.
On day three, the great Kent Williams( Breach Point Consulting) presented a full day seminar:“ Leadership for Reducing Organizational Stress in Law Enforcement.”
The fourth day of the course featured a presentation by our special guest, Chief Superintendent Alan Gibson of the Police Scotland. Chief Superintendent Gibson, who serves as Head of Learning, Training & Development, for the Scottish national police force, focused his remarks on“ My Leadership Reflections— Calm and Chaos and Protecting and Promoting Your Wellbeing as a Senior Leader.” The attendees were also introduced to the special issues that have historically challenged policing in Scotland. The day also featured a presentation from Colonel Brian Looney, of the United States Army War College( USAWC) entitled“ Leadership in Challenging Times.”
