2024 NJSACOP Police Executive Institute

The 22nd session of the Police Executive Institute took place May 6-10 , 2024 , at the National Conference Center and Holiday Inn in East Windsor . The first day of the course featured a presentation by our special guest , Superintendent Amanda Ford of the Police Service of Northern Ireland . Superintendent Ford focused her remarks on the operations and governance of the Police Service , employee morale , accountability and performance , and recruitment and retention . The attendees were also introduced to the special issues that have historically challenged policing in Northern Ireland . During her stay in New Jersey , Superintendent Ford was given the opportunity to visit with the Elizabeth Police Department , the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey , and was also hosted by the Delaware River Port Authority Police .
The opening day also featured a presentation from former Burlington County First Assistant Prosecutor Phil Aronow on “ The Art of Delegation .”
Day two focused on “ Media and Press Skills for the Police Executive ” ( led by former DEA — New Jersey PIO Doug Collier ) and Leadership ( NJSP Lt . Col . Fred Fife ).
On day three , the great Jack Ryan ( LLRMI Co-Director / Capt . ( Ret .) Providence , RI Police Department ) presented a full day seminar focused on important legal trends and issues for contemporary police executives .
On the fourth day , Professor William “ Pat ” Schuber of Fairleigh Dickinson University presented a leadership case study focused on General ( and President ) Dwight D . Eisenhower . The day also featured a presentation from Colonel James Johnson of the United States Army War College ( USAWC ) entitled “ The Human Dimensions of Leadership in the Long Wars .”
The final day of the 2024 Police Executive Institute was a half day seminar on Case Law and Liability for Executive Leadership presented by Allen Bloodgood of the Bloodgood Law Enforcement Training Group .
