The television show DRAGNET stating that this program was one of the finest that he has seen giving all due credit to police and not picturing them as dumb cops with other than police solving the crime . He felt that a letter should be sent to the proper persons expressing our appreciation for the same . Chief Cook stated that the program was written and planned by the Los Angeles Police Department . Past President Lich moved that a letter be sent seconded by V . P . Beck and carried .
1965
The NJSACOP Monthly State Chiefs Meeting for March 1965 was held at the Hotel Arnold in Point Pleasant Beach , NJ . The President read a communication from Leo Welch , the Acting Director of the NJ Bureau of Traffic Safety , thanking the Association “ for the fine cooperation received from us ” through the 1965 holiday safety campaign . Mr . Welch also stated that the “ cooperation of the Police Chiefs was a vital factor in achieving New Jersey ’ s present standing which is in sharp contrast to the general increase in traffic deaths recorded throughout the Nation .”
1971
The March 4th edition of the Camden Courier Post covered that day ’ s graduation of the “ fourth Management Seminar of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police ,” which took place at the Nassau Inn in Princeton . The article noted that graduates included Evesham Township Chief Joseph Leedom , Florence Police Chief John Masiko , Chief Theodore Mitchell of Washington Township , Morris Township Chief Benjamin Rideout , Medford Chief Ernest Seth , Chief Thomas Connell of Mantua , Ocean City Chief Benjamin Duncan , Chief Thomas Dwyer of Pennsville , Somers Point Chief Charles Gray , Chief Roger Irelan of Pitman , Salem Chief George Johnson , and Woodbury Chief Dean Kimmel .
