The following evening ( December 3rd ) the NJSACOP commemorated the Association ’ s 25th anniversary with a “ Silver Jubilee Gala ” at the Paterson Armory . As reported in the Passaic Herald-News , “ stars of the stage and radio ” were scheduled to appear at the event , including :
Cab Calloway , Bill Robinson and entertainers from the Cotton Club , Savoy ballroom and other New York and New Jersey nightclubs are scheduled to appear . Music for dancing , which will begin at 8 o ’ clock , will be furnished by Martin Block and his Make Believe Ballroom orchestra , of radio station WNEW , and Sammy Cohen and his Manhattan Troubadours .

Treasurer McCarthy “ again brought up the matter of finances of the association , pointing out the fact that we were now actually in the “ RED ”, and that some effort be made to get additional funds .” Following “ considerable discussion ,” Chief Brennan of the Elizabeth Police Department moved that each member be assessed $ 10.00 “ to aid in the financial stress of the association .” The motion was carried , and the funds were collected .
1956 The Association received a letter from the Passaic County Police Chiefs Association requesting the assistance of the NJSACOP :
In an effort to have the State Statute in regard to the issuing of permits to purchase firearms amended , so that an applicant would have to be fingerprinted and the time extended for which the permit was to be issued from seven to thirty days so as to give the police departments an opportunity to make a thorough investigation of applicants , as to whether they had any criminal record .

A moment of silence was held in memory of ( recently deceased ) Chief Peter Siccardi ( Bergen County Police ), a former President of both the NJSACOP and IACP , and one of the giants in policing in New Jersey and the United States in the pre-World War 2 era .

The NJSACOP Monthly State Chiefs Meeting for December 2007 was held at Ft . Monmouth , NJ . Cranford Police Chief Eric Mason , chairman of the NJSACOP Command & Leadership Academy program , announced the first event of the new NJSACOP C & L Alumni Association will take place the following month , and which will feature a presentation by Col . Thomas Kolditz , chair of the USMC at West Point Department of Behavioral Sciences & Leadership .
Additionally , the membership approved a change to the Association ’ s Constitution and By-Laws , by which the timing of the election of Association officers was changed . Henceforth , nominations would be made at the May State Chiefs Briefing immediately preceding the Annual Conference , and any contested elections would take place at the June State Chiefs Briefing immediately preceding the Annual Conference .
