The New Jersey Police Chief Magazine | January 2020 Continued from previous page The week was rounded out by a visit to the National Police Memorial in London. We had come prepared for a visit to pay our respects to our fallen UK police colleagues – but this final stop on our agenda became even more meaningful for those of us from New Jersey. A day after the arrival of our delegation in London we received the heart-wrenching news of the murder of Jersey City police Detective Joseph Seals. We gathered at the Memorial on a chilly and blustery London day, paid our respects and observed a moment of silence and reflection, and left behind our own token of remembrance from New Jersey’s police community. While this seminar stands on its own, it also fits into the overall NJSACOP professional development portfolio. Participants receive units that can be used towards qualification for the Accredited Chief/Command Executive certification designation, a statewide, voluntary professional credentialing program instituted and administered by the NJSACOP. We are exceptionally fortunate to have developed working relationships with colleagues and respected policing institutions both here in the United States and internationally. I am proud to say that our portfolio of continuing professional development courses and programs is second to none, and I encourage you to check in on a regular basis on the NJSACOP Professional Development Division webpage for updated information. Our courses all fill to capacity very quickly, so as I say nearly every month at the Police Chiefs Briefing – register early to ensure your spot. ____________________________ i College of Policing, “CPD Framework”, Version 1.01 To view the full online photo gallery, visit: https://njsacop.smugmug.com/2019-December-NJSACOP-Professional-Policing- Practices/ 8
