The New Jersey Police Chief Magazine | December 2019
FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT
CHIEF CHRISTOPHER M. LEUSNER
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP PD
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. I am writing this article from my
hotel room in London. I am reflecting on what an outstanding Association we have here in
New Jersey and grateful for the international opportunities provided to us. My first time
overseas was in 2014 when Chief Bryan Gurney and I attended training as NJSACOP
Leadership Exchange fellows with the College of Policing. We stayed on site at the Bramshill
Police College facility, which reminded me of the FBI National Academy. I was very
impressed with the training and how much time was spent on the decision making process,
how the human brain processes information and utilizing different models to make the best
possible decision. I returned from my 2014 trip with a wealth of knowledge and put much of it into practice.
If you haven’t attended one of our international programs, I highly recommend you do so. This is my fourth opportunity
to travel overseas with our Association and I learn valuable information every time, make contacts, make new friends,
and become a better leader.
I wish all of you and your family a safe and Happy Holiday season.
Stay Safe,
Christopher M. Leusner
President, NJSACOP
