Know the Signs of Human Trafficking
The New Jersey Police Chief Magazine | March 2022
Human Trafficking is exploitation . It can be forced labor , sex work , and domestic servitude . It happens to teens , young adults and adults of all races , genders , religions , and income ranges . It can happen anywhere , in your neighborhood , at work , at conferences and major sporting events . And , in times of greater instability caused by disasters and emergencies , such as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic , certain populations may be even more at-risk , particularly youth and young adults who :
· Are homeless and / or a runaway
· Have a physical , emotional , or cognitive disability
· Have a substance use disorder or a history of substance use
· Are transitioning out of child welfare , foster care , juvenile justice , and prison systems
· Identify as LGBTQ +
